Anuradhapura, Integrated Urban Development Project
The project, financed by the French Development Agency and lead by the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, as part of the Strategic Cities Development Programme aims at promoting a balanced mode of co-development between the sacred and modern parts of Anuradhapura City, with the objective of preserving its cultural and natural heritage, key to the site’s attractiveness. The specific objectives are:
1.Improving storm water management,
2.Addressing urban mobility issues in both the town centre and sacred city (public transportation, road infrastructures, public spaces),
3.Strengthening urban and heritage management practices.
Group Huit, in consortium with SCE (Keran group) and Green Tech Consultants (Pvt) Ltd., based in Sri Lanka, is in charge of elaborating the detailed design studies (urban and technical diagnosis, assessment of the investment plan, Environmental and Social Studies, Institutional analysis and capacity building recommendations) of the Integrated Urban Development Project.
